A source of multimedia teaching materials that combine streaming videos with related interactive web lessons on reading, writing, math, science, and financial literacy.  This is an American source, but video clips could be useful as introduction or additional lesson materials. Some videos also available in Spanish.

Skills Workshop

A UK site with a large number of worksheets on some useful topics. However, since it is not Australian, some numeracy activities are not appropriate and some literacy texts have a very UK-centric context.

The Resource Hub

The Resource Hub assists volunteer reading and writing tutors to plan and develop their learning sessions.  The Resource Hub is divided into sections for three adult-learner groups with materials for Beginner, Intermediate and EAL learners.  There is also a Getting Started section for new tutors. This website was created by Carlton Neighbourhood Learning Centre with Victorian Government funding under the Adult Community and Further Education’s Capacity and Innovation (CAIF)  program. http://www.cnlchub.org.au/

3D shapes, surface area/ volume. Interactive tasks however quite dense instructional text. Teacher is needed to interpret.

AMES Bookshop

AMES Beach Safety Unit

An extensive resource with free, downloadable print materials and mp3 sound files. It is designed to integrate beach safety training into English as a second language or adult basic education programs. AMEP Volunteer Tutor Resources

These Topic Packs are designed to support the tutor in the delivery of sessions and are organised by language levels: pre-beginner, beginner, post beginner and intermediate. New Zealand national professional development program

New Zealand’s national professional development program includes some useful PDFs with teaching/learning strategies for literacy and numeracy, including many activities particularly useful for learner support. ‘Welcome to the Library’ reader

The ‘Welcome to the Library’ reader, video and accompanying teacher resource were developed by Djerriwarrh Community & Education Services in partnership with Melton City Council. The project was supported by funding from the State Library of Victoria. The reader aims to raise awareness of libraries and the services they provide for the community, while the teacher resource offers a range of learning opportunities for both literacy and EAL (English Additional Language) students.
