Radio interview on adult literacy

Jo Medlin, President of Australian Council for Adult Literacy, was  interviewed as part of a panel on adult literacy for Radio National’s Sunday Extra program on 21st February 2021.

Jo Medlin highlighted many of the issues faced by adults wishing to improve their literacy in Australia today, the shame experienced, the difficulty finding classes and the increased need for literacy in all aspects of life. Jo was joined by footballer-turned-actor Ian Roberts who so generously shared his story of learning to read and write as an adult. Also on the panel discussing adult literacy was Andrew Laming MP, Chair of the current parliamentary inquiry into adult literacy and its importance. If you would like to contribute to the inquiry,  submissions are accepted until 5th March, 2021.
