Opportunities to connect, to learn and be inspired

Now is a good time to think about what you might want to learn in 2023. There are some great online and inperson conferences and workshops coming up this year which focus on literacy practice or explore what’s happening in the VET sector generally. These are often a great opportunity to connect with colleagues and hear about exciting initiatives in our space. Check these out (they are in time sequence).

Adult Learning Australia is continuing its online professional development webinars this year. What Works 2023 will focus on adult literacy and learning practice. This eight-part online professional learning series brings together experts in the field to explore effective adult reading, writing, and learning strategies – with a strong emphasis on fun and engagement. The first of these workshops will be held on Thursday 16 February from 11.00am to 12midday with presenters Dr Stephen Reder and Keiko Yasukawa. The workshop will be looking at applying practice engagement theory to developing literacy and numeracy. See here for more details.

AVETRA’s Annual Conference will be held in Melbourne 27-28 April 2023. Its theme is “VET + Challenging times, Challenges of our time and Challenges that lie ahead”. The conference will showcase scholarly and applied research around vocational education.
