Speakers

The Pre-Conference Workshop on Thursday 3rd Oct will be led by Professor Joe Lo Bianco.

The theme of the workshop is: Weaving a richer narrative of adult literacy and numeracy.

This pre-conference workshop will be a working conference where practitioners share their learners’ and their own stories to contribute to a richer, collective narrative about the individual and social benefits of adult literacy and numeracy development; the struggles experienced by learners, teachers and providers in meeting needs; and our aspirations for adult literacy and numeracy education as a public good. Practitioners are encouraged to bring examples of stories that their learners have written about their life/ educational journeys.

Places for this workshop are limited – please register now if you plan to participate.

Keynote Speakers for the conference on 4th & 5th Oct include:

  • Dr. Anke Grotlueschen, Hamburg University, Germany
Vulnerability in Adult Life – and how it affects Numeracy Practices
  • Prof. Ralf St. Clair, University of Victoria, Canada
What we do with words, and what they do with us

This is an excellent opportunity for professional development and networking.

And if you are a practitioner and need to demonstrate your currency, what better way to do it than at the annual ACAL conference.

  • “Step away from the burden of the paperwork and engage with the big picture.”
  • “A wonderful opportunity to network with like minded professionals.”
  • “You always come away with new ideas to try in the classroom.”
  • “Great to get a national and international perspective”
