2017 ACAL Conference: Traders, Neighbours and Intruders – Points of Contact

Don’t forget to register for this year’s Australian Council for Adult Literacy (ACAL) conference at the Darwin Convention Centre (NT) 12-14 September. This year’s conference celebrates 40 years actively promoting language, literacy, numeracy, and communication advocacy and research.

The Hotline’s Manager, Vanessa Iles and Project Officer, Jill Finch will be presenting a paper titled Connecting the Dots: the Reading Writing Hotline’s role in navigating the complex LLN Landscape.

The Conference offers delegates an opportunity to hear the latest in adult literacy research and practice and explore the conditions required for more critically engaged debates about local, regional and global provision. Keynote speakers will address issues including the role of technology in lifting literacy and numeracy and explore ‘Red Dirt Thinking’ a NT perspective on adult literacy. The Northern Territory provides a rich location in which to challenge stereotypes, reinvigorate relationships and provoke new conceptualisations of participation.
